Abstract
The course of development and organization of the health sector in a state is parallel to its development. However, the national health system (NHS) is facing the same serious problems since 30 years from its creation, although the country these decades was to growth trajectory at large intervals. The problems of the Greek health system are accentuated by the contraction of the Greek economy affected by the global economic crisis.
The major policy action chosen to face the problems of the national health system is the creation of the National Organization of Health Services (EOPYY) which is a memorandum commitment and aims to create a uniform body of health which will bring together all the financial resources of the health sector and will ensure the rational distribution to health services.
This labour examines the role of EOPYY, the results of its operations and whether it is a positive reform of NHS or is a deregulation. The final conclusion of this study, is that EOPYY although is able to improve the National Health System, the economic, political and general environment of the country is not conducive, resulting the deterioration of system’s “pathologies” and the deregulation.
