Clinical governance is the compendium of modern health management. Having its conceptual roots in political science and emerged as a transformation of corporate governance mainly in Anglo-Saxon health systems, clinical governance aims to combine organizational and administrative sufficiency with excellence in clinical practice. The implementation of such a model presupposes a deep change of organizational culture across the multi-diverse and particularly complex health sector and moreover its principles and core processes have a great impact on this culture. It also requires the statutory obligation of committed leadership to guide essentially managerial and clinical staff and to provide assurances for governance processes in order to achieve the ultimate goal; high quality health care for every individual in the community. Although clinical governance is a recent concept of health management and there is poor evidence on the effectiveness and efficacy of its implementation, it has been widely recognized as the mean for sustainable development of a health system committed to the continuous and fair satisfaction of patient and community health needs, despite the restriction of financial resources and the raise of health expectations and demand.
