Cancer is one of the common causes of death, in fact the most frequent after heart diseases both for the countries of Europe and USA. In fact 3,2 million of cases are diagnosed every year in Europe and the most common of which is breast, lung and colon cancer. Due to the progress in research and treatment of cancer, it is still a major problem for health. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the social effects due to the use of chemotherapy and how we deal with the case of extravasation. In the meanwhile, we studied the factors which lead to cancer, including some general and more specific symptoms as for methods of dealing with this disease and it’s side effects. The method which was used for the collection of the information was literature review in various database and studies including information both for social and economic effects of the use of chemotherapy. As for the conclusion of this research we have to mention that it is very important for the patients to follow the instructios of their doctor, remain calm, cooperative and trust the health professionals. The social effects are many for those patients because they are characterized for the rest of their lives by this illness. As for the case of extravasation we have to say that it is a serious situation and very common for those receiving chemotherapy and its treatment requires a lot of effort and time.
