| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα εργασία εξετάζει τη συμβολή της Κυκλικής Οικονομίας και των Reverse Logistics. Στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο, περιγράφονται οι βασικές αρχές της Κυκλικής Οικονομίας, με έμφαση στη μετάβαση από το γραμμικό μοντέλο «παράγω–καταναλώνω–απορρίπτω» σε κυκλικά συστήματα παραγωγής και κατανάλωσης. Στη συνέχεια παρουσιάζονται τα Reverse Logistics ως κρίσιμος μηχανισμός για την εφαρμογή των κυκλικών στρατηγικών, επιτρέποντας την ανάκτηση, επαναχρησιμοποίηση και ανακύκλωση υλικών.
Η μελέτη περίπτωσης της Nespresso αναδεικνύει την πρακτική εφαρμογή της Κυκλικής Οικονομίας μέσω ενός ολοκληρωμένου συστήματος ανακύκλωσης καψουλών καφέ από αλουμίνιο. Η εταιρεία έχει αναπτύξει ένα πολυεπίπεδο δίκτυο συλλογής, το οποίο περιλαμβάνει καταστήματα, υπηρεσίες παραλαβής κατ’ οίκον και σύγχρονες αυτόνομες θυρίδες (lockers), βελτιώνοντας τα ποσοστά συμμετοχής των καταναλωτών. Τα αποτελέσματα της ανάλυσης καταδεικνύουν ότι η αξιοποίηση του αλουμινίου και η διαχείριση οργανικών υπολειμμάτων μέσω κομποστοποίησης δημιουργούν σημαντικά περιβαλλοντικά και οικονομικά οφέλη.
Η εργασία καταλήγει ότι η υιοθέτηση κυκλικών επιχειρηματικών πρακτικών και αποτελεσματικών συστημάτων Reverse Logistics μπορεί να αποτελέσει στρατηγικό μοχλό ανάπτυξης για τις επιχειρήσεις, ενώ παράλληλα ενισχύει τη βιωσιμότητα και συμβάλλει στη μείωση του περιβαλλοντικού αποτυπώματος. Τέλος, παρουσιάζονται οι βασικές προκλήσεις και οι ευκαιρίες ανάπτυξης, καθώς και προτάσεις για το μέλλον. | el |

| dc.description.abstractEN | This dissertation examines the contribution of the Circular Economy and Reverse Logistics to sustainable resource management and the enhancement of environmental and operational performance. Initially, the fundamental principles of the Circular Economy are analysed, highlighting the transition from the traditional linear “take–make–dispose” model to circular systems of production and consumption. Reverse Logistics are then presented as a critical mechanism enabling the practical implementation of circular strategies through the recovery, reuse, and recycling of materials.
The case study of Nespresso demonstrates the real-world application of Circular Economy principles through a fully integrated recycling system for aluminium coffee capsules. The company has developed a multi-channel collection network—including retail stores, home pick-up services, and the use of modern autonomous parcel lockers—to increase consumer participation. The results indicate that aluminium recovery and the composting of used coffee grounds generate substantial environmental and economic benefits.
The study concludes that adopting circular business practices and effective Reverse Logistics systems can serve as a strategic driver for business development, while simultaneously supporting sustainability goals and reducing environmental impact. Finally, the main challenges and future development opportunities are presented, alongside proposals for further research. | el |
