This thesis examines how geopolitical disruptions after 2022 have reshaped global maritime energy transportation, focusing particularly on oil and natural gas flows. The war in Ukraine, sanctions against Russia and escalating tensions in the Middle East disrupted established energy relationships and exposed the vulnerability of global supply chains and strategic maritime chokepoints. As a result, the international energy system entered a period of significant energy rebalancing, characterized by the redistribution of energy flows, diversification of suppliers and markets, rerouting of maritime transportation and the emergence of new strategic dependencies.
