| dc.description.abstract | Η παρούσα εργασία εξετάζει την οικονομική ανθεκτικότητα και τη διαχείριση των ελληνικών λιμένων, με κύρια μελέτη περίπτωσης το λιμάνι του Πειραιά, κατά την περίοδο 2020–Α΄ τριμήνου 2025. Η διεθνής ναυτιλία επηρεάστηκε έντονα από την πανδημία COVID-19, τον πόλεμο στην Ουκρανία, τις συγκρούσεις στη Μέση Ανατολή, την αστάθεια στην Ερυθρά Θάλασσα και τα προβλήματα στη Διώρυγα του Παναμά, δημιουργώντας σημαντικές προκλήσεις στις εμπορευματικές ροές και στο λειτουργικό κόστος των λιμένων.
Η έρευνα βασίστηκε σε ανάλυση χρονοσειρών οικονομικών δεδομένων, διεθνών δεικτών συνδεσιμότητας και ανταγωνιστικότητας, καθώς και σε επίσημες εκθέσεις του ΟΛΠ και διεθνών οργανισμών. Τα αποτελέσματα δείχνουν ότι ο Πειραιάς διατήρησε υψηλό επίπεδο σταθερότητας και ανταγωνιστικότητας, χάρη στη γεωστρατηγική του θέση, τη διαφοροποίηση εσόδων, την ισχυρή συνδεσιμότητα και τις επενδύσεις της COSCO και του εγκεκριμένου Master Plan.
Παρά τις συνεχιζόμενες γεωπολιτικές και περιβαλλοντικές προκλήσεις, η τεχνολογική αναβάθμιση και οι πράσινες επενδύσεις ενισχύουν τις προοπτικές βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης. Συμπερασματικά, ο Πειραιάς αναδεικνύεται ως ένας ιδιαίτερα ανθεκτικός και στρατηγικής σημασίας λιμενικός κόμβος της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου. | el |

| dc.description.abstractEN | This study examines the management and economic resilience of Greek ports, focusing on the Port of Piraeus during the period from 2020 to the first quarter of 2025. Global shipping was significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, conflicts in the Middle East, vessel rerouting due to instability in the Red Sea, and disruptions caused by drought conditions in the Panama Canal. These developments created major challenges for ports, including fluctuations in cargo flows, increased operational costs, and stricter environmental and regulatory requirements.
The research methodology is based on time-series analysis of economic data, the examination of international connectivity and competitiveness indicators, and the evaluation of official reports issued by Piraeus Port Authority and international organizations. The findings indicate that the Port of Piraeus demonstrated remarkable stability and competitiveness despite successive crises. Its geostrategic location, diversified revenue structure, strong connectivity, and investments implemented by COSCO under the Belt and Road Initiative, together with the approved Master Plan, contributed significantly to maintaining and strengthening its economic performance.
Although geopolitical risks and environmental obligations remain critical challenges, technological modernization and green investments enhance the port’s long-term sustainability prospects. Overall, the Port of Piraeus emerges as one of the most resilient and strategically important maritime hubs in the Eastern Mediterranean. | el |
