to academic circles in the field of international relations, namely, the position of the European Τhis postgraduate thesis aspires to contribute to the study of a subject of considerable interest Union regarding the minority policies of its member states and especially its position on the case of the Turkish minority in Bulgaria. More specifically, after studying Türkiye’s relationship with the Turkish minorities in Central Europe, it was deemed appropriate to investigate the same issue further concerning the Balkan region to gain a broader perspective. The study of Bulgaria's case was considered particularly interesting due to the Turkish minority’s active involvement in the country's political and social life. This study moves along two thematic axes. The first concerns Bulgaria’s policy towards the Muslim minority within its territory, and the second, Türkiye’s reaction to this policy. Investigating these two issues raises other interesting issues, such as Europe’s stance towards the rights of minorities in the Balkans, Europe’s enlargement fatigue, and Türkiye’s overall foreign policy in the Balkans.
