dc.description.abstract	Η εργασία εξετάζει τη μετάβαση από το κυρίαρχο μοντέλο της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης προς το νέο, ολιστικό παράδειγμα της αναγεννητικής οικονομίας. Αρχικά, παρουσιάζεται η έννοια της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης, όπως θεσμοθετήθηκε με την Έκθεση Brundtland (1987), και αναλύονται οι τρεις πυλώνες της: οικονομικός, κοινωνικός και περιβαλλοντικός. Επισημαίνονται οι θεωρητικές ρίζες στη συστημική σκέψη και στην κριτική των ορίων της ανάπτυξης, ενώ αναδεικνύονται οι αδυναμίες και τα όρια της βιωσιμότητας, όπως η τάση για αποσπασματική εφαρμογή και το φαινόμενο του greenwashing. Στη συνέχεια, η εργασία εστιάζει στην αναγεννητική οικονομία, η οποία δεν αρκείται στη μείωση των αρνητικών επιπτώσεων, αλλά επιδιώκει τη δημιουργία θετικής καθαρής επίδρασης (net positive impact) στα οικοσυστήματα και τις κοινωνίες. Παρουσιάζονται οι βασικές αρχές της αναγεννητικής προσέγγισης, όπως η κυκλικότητα, ο σχεδιασμός για αναγέννηση, η ενίσχυση τοπικών δικτύων και η πολυκεφαλαιακή μέτρηση. Αναλύονται θεωρητικά μοντέλα όπως το Doughnut Economics της Kate Raworth, η συστημική σκέψη του Fritjof Capra και τα «Όρια της Ανάπτυξης» των Meadows, που συγκλίνουν στην ανάγκη επαναπροσδιορισμού της έννοιας της προόδου. Επιπλέον, εξετάζονται οι πρακτικές εφαρμογές της αναγεννητικής οικονομίας στη γεωργία, στον αστικό σχεδιασμό, στην επιχειρηματικότητα και στη δημόσια πολιτική. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίνεται στην αναγεννητική γεωργία, με παραδείγματα από το Savory Institute, το Rodale Institute και τις ελληνικές πρωτοβουλίες σε ελαιώνες και αμπελώνες, που καταδεικνύουν τη συμβολή τους στη δέσμευση του άνθρακα, στη βιοποικιλότητα και στην επισιτιστική ασφάλεια. Παρουσιάζονται επίσης παραδείγματα αναγεννητικού αστικού σχεδιασμού, όπως το BedZED στο Λονδίνο, το Masdar City στα ΗΑΕ, τα Τρίκαλα και η Καρδίτσα, που αναδεικνύουν διαφορετικές διαδρομές προς τη βιωσιμότητα και την ανθεκτικότητα των πόλεων. Στον οικονομικό τομέα, αναλύονται τα αναγεννητικά επιχειρηματικά μοντέλα και η έννοια του regenerative capitalism, με παραδείγματα εταιρειών, όπως η Patagonia, η Interface και η Ecosia, που ενσωματώνουν την αναγεννητική λογική στον πυρήνα της λειτουργίας τους. Τέλος, εξετάζονται οι πολιτικές και θεσμικές στρατηγικές σε ευρωπαϊκό και εθνικό επίπεδο, με έμφαση στην Ευρωπαϊκή Πράσινη Συμφωνία, στο Fit for 55, στο REPowerEU και στο ΕΣΕΚ, καθώς και οι προκλήσεις της θεσμικής εφαρμογής και της κοινωνικής συμμετοχής.	el

dc.description.abstractEN	This thesis examines the transition from the dominant model of sustainable development to the emerging and holistic paradigm of the regenerative economy. Initially, the concept of sustainable development is presented as established through the Brundtland Report (1987), while its three main pillars—economic, social, and environmental—are analyzed. At the same time, the study explores its theoretical foundations in systems thinking and in the critique of the “Limits to Growth,” highlighting key weaknesses of the sustainability model, such as the fragmented implementation of sustainability policies and the phenomenon of greenwashing. The thesis then focuses on the regenerative economy, which goes beyond the logic of merely reducing negative impacts and seeks to create a net positive impact on ecosystems and societies. The core principles of the regenerative approach are presented, including circularity, regenerative design, the strengthening of local networks, and multi-capital value measurement. Furthermore, theoretical models and approaches such as Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics, Fritjof Capra’s systems thinking, and the Meadows’ work on the Limits to Growth are analyzed, as they converge on the need to redefine the concepts of progress and economic development. Particular emphasis is placed on the practical applications of the regenerative economy in agriculture, urban planning, entrepreneurship, and public policy. In the field of regenerative agriculture, examples from the Savory Institute, the Rodale Institute, and Greek initiatives in olive groves and vineyards are presented, demonstrating the contribution of these practices to carbon sequestration, biodiversity enhancement, and food security. In parallel, examples of regenerative urban design are examined, such as BedZED in London, Masdar City in the United Arab Emirates, and the cases of Trikala and Karditsa in Greece, which illustrate different pathways toward sustainability, resilience, and improved quality of life in cities. In the economic sector, regenerative business models and the concept of regenerative capitalism are analyzed through examples of companies such as Patagonia, Interface, and Ecosia, which integrate regenerative practices into the core of their operations. Finally, the thesis examines policy and institutional strategies at both the European and national levels, with emphasis on the European Green Deal, Fit for 55, REPowerEU, and the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), as well as the challenges related to institutional implementation and social participation.	el
