The present study focuses on understanding and assessing the carbon dioxide emissions associated with corporate event activities, aiming to develop strategies to reduce their environmental impact. Measuring the carbon footprint is a critical tool for accurately evaluating these impacts and providing the foundation for designing effective sustainable management policies. In this context, the methodology was applied to six different events, following a structured process of data collection, processing, and analysis, with emphasis on emissions originating from participant transportation, energy consumption, accommodation, catering, and waste generation.
The data analysis demonstrates that corporate events, while representing significant social and business platforms, contribute substantially to environmental burdens, with major sources of emissions including participant travel, energy use, waste production, and food and beverage management. Reducing the carbon footprint has become imperative for achieving corporate environmental commitments and promoting sustainable practices, leveraging international standards and scientifically validated procedures.
Furthermore, integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles into event management processes promotes accountability, innovation, and environmental stewardship, while governmental support can facilitate and reward companies that adopt sustainable practices.
