In the current thesis it is presented the way οf incorporation of triptych sustainability / ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), mainly its social aspect, in the operation of merchant shipping companies / MSC. This, constitutes requirement for Maritime Shipping Companies / MSCs, of ever-growing importance, due to a corresponding need of society or the so called stakeholders. In the first chapter, it is described the evolution of sustainability up to present time and its basic elements. In the second chapter, it is described the basic elements of this reporting procedure, its content, the regulatory framework, and the relevant most important metrics, measurements, regulations and standards. In the third chapter, it is analyzed and evaluated, and against designated by this thesis thirteen criteria, defined upon intensive study of the subject, of a total of six sustainability reports, three of Greek and three of not Greek MSC. The partial conclusions of each company will be noted down in boards, and in context. In the forth chapter, the total of derived conclusions and proposals is contained, solely for the social aspect and in relation to the rest of the triptych, for the current as well as for the developing future situation - evolution.
