In this thesis, the main subject of study is the multinational company Pfizer and its entry into the Greek markets, as well as the impact of foreign direct investment on the pharmaceutical sector. This work combines knowledge from the fields of strategic management, economic theory, marketing, and the pharmaceutical industry, aiming to present a comprehensive understanding of the topic. Initially, we will analyze how Foreign Direct Investments are defined, the forms they can take, their contribution to economic development, as well as their benefits and risks for host countries. Afterwards, we will examine the pharmaceutical sector from its inception and then place emphasis on Greek pharmaceutical companies and the sector's contribution to the domestic economy. Moreover, attention will be given to the competitive nature of the pharmaceutical market in which Pfizer operates, and an analysis of its main competitors will be conducted. Furthermore, the paper will examine how the legal and
regulatory framework creates challenges for competition and shapes Pfizer's business choices on a global level. In conclusion, recommendations will be provided on how Pfizer could adapt to the new market demands, such as the need for more affordable medicines or the transition to more sustainable practices.
