| dc.description.abstractEN | The main purpose of this thesis is to showcase and highlight the importance that
geothermal energy as a clean renewable energy resource will play in shaping international
geopolitics and energy transition in the upcoming decades. Firstly, this thesis attempts at
analysing briefly the essence of geopolitics by citing classical theories based on which the
study of geopolitics has been formed.
In addition, current energy market trends are described concisely with an emphasis on
fossil fuels and renewable energy resources before the impact of geothermal energy,
specifically, on international politics and geopolitics is examined. Furthermore, future
projections of geothermal energy and its share in states’ energy mixes are explained
before, finally, conclusions are discussed in brief. | el |
