dc.description.abstract	Η παρούσα διπλωματική εξετάζει τις σύγχρονες ενεργειακές προκλήσεις στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο και αναλύει τον ρόλο της Ελλάδας σε ένα περιβάλλον αυξημένης γεωπολιτικής ρευστότητας και ανταγωνισμού. Μέσα από συστηματική και πολυεπίπεδη ανάλυση προκύπτει ότι οι πρόσφατες ανακαλύψεις υδρογονανθράκων, οι συνεχιζόμενες διενέξεις θαλασσίων οριοθετήσεων και οι μεταβαλλόμενες περιφερειακές ισορροπίες, διαμορφώνουν ένα διακριτό γεωπολιτικό υποσύστημα με άμεσες συνέπειες για την ευρωπαϊκή ενεργειακή ασφάλεια. Τα ευρήματα αναδεικνύουν την Ελλάδα ως σταθεροποιητικό και θεσμικά συνεπή δρώντα, ο οποίος αξιοποιεί την προσήλωσή του στο διεθνές δίκαιο και μια συγκροτημένη διπλωματική στρατηγική για την ενίσχυση περιφερειακών συνεργασιών και την προώθηση κρίσιμων ενεργειακών υποδομών. Παράλληλα, επισημαίνονται παράγοντες που επιβαρύνουν τη σταθερότητα, μεταξύ των οποίων οι Τουρκικές αναθεωρητικές αξιώσεις και το Τουρκολιβυκό Μνημόνιο. Συνολικά, η εργασία καταλήγει ότι η αποτελεσματική διαχείριση των ενεργειακών προκλήσεων της περιοχής απαιτεί σαφές νομικό πλαίσιο, συνεκτική διπλωματική δράση και ενισχυμένη περιφερειακή συνεργασία, πεδία στα οποία η Ελλάδα δύναται να διαδραματίσει καθοριστικό ρόλο.	el

dc.description.abstractEN	This thesis interrogates the evolving energy architecture of the Eastern Mediterranean and elucidates Greece’s role within a rapidly reconfigured geopolitical milieu. Through a rigorous, multi-scalar analytical framework, the study demonstrates that emergent hydrocarbon discoveries, entrenched maritime disputes, and shifting regional alignments have consolidated the region as a distinct and increasingly contested geopolitical subsystem with substantive ramifications for European energy security. The findings position Greece as a stabilising and norm-driven actor, anchored in its systematic adherence to international law, its strategic engagement in cooperative regional structures, and its advancement of critical energy infrastructures. Concurrently, the analysis identifies persistent destabilising vectors - most prominently Turkish revisionist claims and the Turkey/Libya memorandum - which impede coherent regional governance. The thesis concludes that effective management of the region’s energy challenges necessitates enhanced legal certainty, sustained diplomatic coordination, and institutionalised regional cooperation, within which Greece is structurally poised to assume a pivotal role.	el
