dc.description.abstractEN	This paper will attempt to delineate risks and threats upon the naval security sphere in the Eastern Mediterranean, a region that combines three continents with wholly dissimilar political, economical compasses and strategic orientation, creating a contrasting viewpoint in domains such as security. In addition to that, this thesis seeks to evaluate the current legal and operational framework based on the efficient handling of the new threats opposed in the area, which are concentrated equally around external factors, as well as inter-state disputes over territorial claims. The Eastern Mediterranean region was deliberately chosen to be examined in this thesis, marked by competing claims over sea areas, seen as disputed waters, having led to altercations in the regional and international geopolitical sphere. These disputes not only pose risk to regional stability but also have wider implications for international relations and the application of maritime law. The examination of the current legal framework will be conducted solely around those cases, followed by strategic recommendations for future purposes.	el
