This research aims to investigate the factors that influence the intention to consume energy within the Greek household. Specifically, the aim of the research is to find both quantitative and qualitative indicators that are responsible for the change in consumption behaviour. Based on the existing literature, factors that seem to influence either positively or negatively are, disposable income, age, friend of the respondents, as well as qualitative characteristics of the dwelling. These qualitative characteristics include both the floor area, the date of acquisition, the existence of adequate insulation and the total number of permanent residents, as well as their habits. For the needs of the research, the data of the Energy Consumption Survey of Households for the period 2011-2012, conducted by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), were used. The results of the econometric analysis were compared with those of the existing literature. Positive influencing factors were found to be income, insulation, surface area, habits of household members and others.
