Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the well-being of seafarers’ and how the presence
or lack of it may influence the safety of onboard functions. This is accomplished
through the analysis of the aforementioned definitions, the current institutional
framework and the corporate strategic choice’s amplification for connecting seafarers’
well-being with safety. Additionally, in order to facilitate a realistic approach of the
terms and connections under study, the thesis completes by analyzing a specific case,
which is the MV Wakashio’s accident (25th of July, 2020 – near the coast of Mauritius).
