In this particular study emphasis was given on the relations between NATO and the EU in the field of Defence and Security and, mainly, since the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the EU onwards. After a brief historical sequence of the parallel development of these two organizations, with an emphasis always on the field of security, the pivotal role of the Brexit was explained, given the Translantic Bridge that the UK haw been serving for years. Furthermore, the study raised the question of how to analyze and envision the EU’s strategic future based on the landmark text of the “Strategic Compass”. Finally, it is proposed to strengthen the already existing mechanisms, such as the Permanent Structured Cooperation, for the completion of the European Security and Defence policy and its gradual weaning from NATO.
