The pandemic has been a matter of fundamental importance as it has
affected and continues to affect the world politically, geographically, socially,
and economically. Tourism is the most affected sector with losses of several
billions. The wounds of the pandemic will take time to heal in the tourism
industry. Flights, cruise lines and hotel reservations were being cancelled as
the number of coronavirus cases increased. Globally, the governments put
into operation strict restrictive measures, in terms of movements, resulting in
increased tourism inactivity. In particular, Online Travel Agencies were
completely disorganized, during the pandemic crisis with the consequent
postponement of their operations. This collapse was intertwined with the
weakening of the seasonal workforce and the desolation of tourist
destinations.In addition, government financial support did not contribute
sufficiently to the maintenance of tourism.Online Travel Agencies, which is the
main subject of this assignment, headed after the relaxation of travel
measures in an incredibly positive direction. This direction seems to continue
since it promotes speed of transactions, the upgrading of tourism services and
convenience.
