The present thesis aims to study the impact of the epidemics on shipping and more specifically the impact on human resources and the ship operation. The reason for the preparation of this thesis has been the health crisis that has been affecting the world scene for 2 years with serious consequences in all areas of life. Despite the unprecedented challenges, ships have not stopped carrying out their work, i.e., the transport of goods, which indicates the very important role played by shipping for the economic and social development of states through international trade.
The aim of the thesis is to approach and highlight, on the one hand, the impact of epidemics on the employees of a shipping company but mainly on seafarers who man ships selflessly for many months unable to return to their homes, creating problems of embarkation and repatriation and, on the other hand, the challenges that the company is called to manage in order to optimize the economic and safe development of the ship in the volatile environment with complex data.
