Education greatly affects human development and the cohesion of society in general. It plays
an important role in shaping income and therefore affects the economic inequality and
poverty levels of each country. This paper presents the economic factors that affect poverty in
Greece with emphasis on the educational level of the people Using data from Eurostat and the
Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for the years 2000 to
2020, an attempt is made to identify the impact of lower and higher levels of education on the
phenomenon of poverty. The results of the research showed that the educational level of the
people contributes to the evolution of the phenomenon of poverty and the economy of the
country in general.
