"Geography is changing, even though we cannot change geography" were the words of the Norwegian Foreign Minister, the Johns Gahr Store almost ten years ago when the essence of change is summarized, as shown by modern scientific research and studies, young women predict and analyze tremendous changes in the Eurasian Arctic. Efforts to militarize Russia and the growing regional interests between China, the US and the European Union are playing a very important role in combating this change. The European Union (EU) is currently in the process of defining the role it wants to play in the security and defense of the region, while at the same time seeking the presence of the Arctic, the interests and the influence of the region.
The EU feels the need to adjust its stature to the increasingly conflicting and competitive world stage, either due to the emerging rivalry of the great powers or even the ongoing conflicts between the European Union and Russia.
The EU has therefore put geopolitical Arctic policies on its agenda, including globalization, economic rivalries and interests, climate change, regional instability and a wide range of hybrid moves by state and non-state actors.
