This LLM thesis deals with the nature of the electricity supply contract in the Greek legal order. The supply of electricity is at the core of modern economic and social life in any developed society. Due to the importance of the electricity for modern social structures, the continuous supply with it of the final consumers has been a subject of legislative concern and a state monopoly. At this stage, the legal relations that were developing in the electricity market were quite simplistic. However, since the beginning of the 21st century, the aforementioned monopolistic regime of the energy market has been liberalized by EU movements. In this liberalized context of the energy market, the importance of the supply contract has grown: the freedom of contracts has been consolidated, as well as the freedom of suppliers to formulate terms and the consumers to choose the type of supply that best meets their needs. However, the risks faced by the latter did not decrease at all, but on the contrary increased. It is therefore necessary to determine the legal nature of the supply contract and to systematize the obligations of the parties in the Greek legal order, since the legislator hesistates giving it a legal characterization. The implementation of the EU target model and the transformation of the energy market into a stock market has as a result the supply contract to be seen as having an intermediary nature, as will be attempted to be highlighted by the present study.
