Abstract
The need to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of health services is indisputable, and various management tools such as Total Quality Management (TQM), Business Restructuring (BPR), continuous improvement of quality (CQI) and accreditation programs. The adoption of these philosophies has contributed in practice to quality assurance, but there are, according to many researchers, many margins for improvement. In Greece, the majority of private hospitals have a certification and accreditation system, but the same does not apply for many public hospitals. In this study, the case of the Clinic Iatriko Palaiou Falirou, has been studied in the framework of its adoption of the ISO 9000: 2015 certification system. Specifically, two interviews were conducted with the Head of the Department of Surgery and the Director of the Nursing Service. From the analysis of the research findings, it was found that there were no particular difficulties in adopting the quality system, and it appeared that the responsible authorities had understood its philosophy.
