The purpose of this paper is to investigate the growth rates of the economies of the countries of Europe. The countries were divided in two categories, the north and the south. Panel data are is used to describe the growth rate of per capita GDP with some of the key factors that can affect it over the horizon of 12 years (2003-2015) for each group of countries separately. For estimations the fixed effect method using time dummies, the random effect method to describe the model is used. The Hausman test also applies to the difference between fixed and random effects.
The most important result from the estimates is that the consumption has a statistically significant relationship with the GDP growth per capita. The two categories of sites that analyzed have a significantly negative impact on the growth rate of per capita GDP in these comparable time periods. This result arises from both methods of estimation as its sign is negative, which may be due to economic crisis that existed within the years included in the sample
