dc.description.abstract	Η παγκόσμια ναυτιλία βρίσκεται σε ένα σταυροδρόμι που θα καθορίσει το μέλλον της και τη μετάβαση της στη νέα εποχή. Από τη μια πλευρά οι πιέσεις και οι κανονισμοί του Διεθνούς Οργανισμού Ναυσιπλοΐας για μια ναυτιλία που δεν θα επιβαρύνει το περιβάλλον και από την άλλη η οικονομική ύφεση και οι υψηλές τιμές του πετρελαίου αναγκάζουν την βιομηχανία της ναυτιλίας να αναζητήσει λύσεις που θα μειώνουν την περιβαλλοντική ζημιά που προκύπτει από τη ναυτιλία ενώ παράλληλα θα είναι συμφέρουσες και από οικονομικής πλευράς. Η χρήση οικολογικών πλοίων θα έχει αδιαμφισβήτητα οφέλη, ωστόσο η πρόκληση για τη βιομηχανία της ναυτιλίας είναι να καταφέρει την ομαλή μετάβαση χωρίς υψηλό κόστος από το επίπεδο της έρευνας στην αγορά.	el

dc.description.abstractEN	The global shipping is at a crossroads that will determine its future and the transition to the new era. On one hand are the pressures from the International Maritime Organization and its regulations for shipping which will not burden the environment and on the other hand the economic recession and high oil prices are forcing the shipping industry to seek solutions that will reduce the environmental damage caused by shipping while also being advantageous in economic terms.The use of green ships has undeniable benefits but the real challenge for the maritime industry is to manage a smooth transition without high costs from the level of research to the market.	el
