Dangers that lurk in educational premises, most of the times, seem to be almost the same with those which lurk in any other workplace. However, in this case the particular thing about it seems to be that in educational premises the subjects wandering about are mostly students; therefore more susceptible, because of their young age. Thus unexperienced, they frequently ignore the dangers that threat their safety and health; therefore, they sometimes become dangerous even for themselves.
The role of education in students’ habituation and awareness relating to matters of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is very important. Especially, as far as students of technical expertise coming from Vocational Education are concerned, given they are up to join the job market earlier than many peers coming from Scientific schools. The incorporation of teaching issues of (OSH) in school curriculum in the first type of school may provide significant results in spreading the principles of (OSH) in job market.
Basically, the present essay, as it is mentioned indicatively in the title, is pointing out the occupational hygiene and safety in Vocational Education. The first reference is attempted in the first unit by a theoretical approach on occupational hygiene and safety. The second unit is following, in which firstly, European health and safety policy is talked about and secondly, the progress of legislation in Greece about employees’ health and safety. In the next unit, after the fulfillment of the second big unit about work, issues about health and safety in education are disputed and specifically, in Vocational Education. In the fourth unit, we dealt with Vocational Education of Evia county. Research was made in order to draw conclusions about to what extent, educators of Vocational Education are aware about issues of OSH; moreover, if they are capable of training their students about matters of OSH. Finally, in the last unit, conclusions are reached and recommendations are made on the improvement of the present situation. At the end, one might read the conclusion of the essay.
