Development of Android application recognizing user activity, designed based on Google’s Material Design

The objective of this Diploma Thesis is the study of applications for Android operating system, which recognize user activity (walking, jogging, cycling, etc.) using activity recognition technology and information from the sensors of the mobile device. At first are listed brief introductory information for the Android operating system, and the results of the research for such applications. Then in the context of this Thesis is the implementation of such an application, the design of which will be using the material design of Google. The application will record the results, presenting statistics and graphs and the user will be able to monitor the records for the present day, as well as the previous ones. Also the user will be able in real time to see where is his position on the map, the activity that the system recognizes the particular time and the probability of the activity. In addition there will be a functionality to export measurements to a text file which will be stored in the memory of the device. Finally there is a detailed description of the application’s capabilities and how it is implemented.
