The purpose of this project is the presentation and interaction of virtual agents with intelligent behavior inside a complete and dynamic virtual world. A virtual agent is the representation of an embodied entity with the capacity of autonomous behavior in the context of a virtual world. In this project using the development platform jReve we extended the abilities of our agent with the ability of speech and understanding of speech. In detail our virtual agent can now understand the speech of another virtual agent can process this information and store it for future use. It also has the ability to manifest visually and in sense of hearing its speech. An intelligence virtual agent must have a behavioral model. Our agent uses as a behavioral model the program Eliza, a program with the purpose of demonstration a natural language conversation between man and machine. To evaluate the results of our project we enter agent Eliza in a virtual environment representing a bar, designed in VRML and loaded into jReve platform using VERL, a language for defining virtual worlds representations. In this virtual world we enter another agent and a conversation is made demonstrating the ability of perception, understanding and speaking of both agents.
