Globalization along with the systematically aging population has led to the development of health tourism services on an international level. Patients, increasingly, seek care out of the borders in order to combine low cost with travel experience. The term "Elective Medical Tourism" describes the pre-mentioned trend, according to which a patient chooses to travel abroad in order to receive a specific health service, for reasons such as cost, service quality and the combination of health care with customer experience.
The Elective Medical Tourism refers to services like: plastic surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, artificial insemination, cardio surgery, orthopaedics, treatment and rehabilitation, cancer treatment and organ transplants. Health and tourism providers have established all-inclusive packages for both patients and family in cooperation with international Medical Tourism Facilitators.
