This dissertation, which is part of the MSc Digital Systems and Services of University of Pireaus, assesses the success or failure of information systems, within large organizations.
In the dissertation there is reference of the different development stages of an information system. In addition advantages and disadvantages of four different information system development models are presented.
The main purpose of the dissertation is to present and categorize the various reasons of success or failure of an information system. As a result all the main assessment models of information systems are presented in detail.
The last chapter analyses a specific information system project which was developed in order to cover the organizational needs of a well-known telecommunication company. This is assessed based on its acceptance from the end users as well as its added value to the company as a whole.
