This study dealt with the concept of the strategy and examined how this relates to the shipping industry, especially during the economic crisis. A reference was made to the cooperation strategy followed in the current period. The study also examined the functioning and the strategies of the shipping companies and was completed through four chapters, where the industry and the internal environment were analyzed in detail, while a research was also conducted in order to draw safe conclusions in relation to the matter under consideration.
The main conclusion is that the shipping industry is considered dynamic, offers opportunities at all levels for the Greek economy and should be maintained lucrative as an industry for development, because without it the country will receive a strong economic blow. The industry is different from others and in order to remain viable the moves made by the companies themselves are not enough. Government assistance is needed for them to continue to be competitive in the international competitive environment.
