The widespread use of Student Information Systems (SIS) by a large number of mainly foreign educational institutions is something that characterizes the present era. In the most cases, this occurs because of the rapid development of new technologies, which are increasingly entering the education system.
This project aims to familiarize the reader with these systems being used in the educational process and to present thoroughly a fairly popular of these, OpenSIS.
To make it easier to understand this system, research and review of the most famous student information systems and their basic characteristics was originally selected to be done.
Also, the principles of e-learning method and the concepts of open source software are presented, which are today the most representative examples of the application of new technologies in education.
Finally, in this project we present a specific use case of this software in an educational institution and provide detailed installation and use manual of the OpenSIS software.
