The age and gender composition of the population and in particular the phenomenon of aging are key demographic structural characteristics - affected by long-term trends in fertility and mortality – have major demographic, economic and social implications and determine greatly the prospects of the population in terms of the size and composition. The aim of this study is - based on data of the two last population censuses of Greece (2001 and 2011) - to elaborate appropriate demographic indicators of age structure at local authority level, to present these data in the form of tables, graphs and maps and analyzed the statistical material using established statistical techniques (descriptive statistical techniques, etc.).
