The international, European, and the Greek economy affected in recent years
by the economic crisis and recession, which results in many different size and social
and economic impact. Remarkable is not that the economic crisis affects significantly
both the general health of the population, and mental health. Additionally, the impact
of the crisis on the health of population are distributed differently among the
inhabitants of a country, while the lowest social strata are at greater risk. The most
serious result of the economic crisis are the problems in the financing of health
systems, the threat of sustainability insurance private companies and the charge of the
functioning of public health care units due to very high demand. The purpose of this
study is to analyze the economic crisis and the illustration of its effects on public
health.
The first chapter relates generally to the economic crisis, so given the
definition and characteristics, the History, the stages of economic crisis, the causes of
economic crisis, and emergency procedures. The second chapter presents the social
impact of economic crisis, namely unemployment, economic migration, Downgrade
living standards and consumer behavior. The third chapter provides the economic
impact of economic crisis, such as the cost of living, the Work and salary, the Effects
on the health system and Entrepreneurship. The fourth chapter analyzes the economic
crisis effects in general, but also mental health. The last chapter provides the
conclusions of this study.
