The emergence of the World Wide Web strongly influenced the Libraries, which until
then were the main source of knowledge and information. The transition from the Web to
the Semantic Web has solved many significant problems related to the supply of enhanced
information to the end user. The opening and interconnection of data provided by the use
of Semantic Web technologies allows the direct use of the data information offered by the
libraries. This thesis examines methods that semantically describe bibliographic data and
present these to the end user as Linked Data. In particular, the bibliographic data of the
Public Library of Evosmos were transformed from the MARC format to the RDF format and
were interconnected with the datasets of the Public Library of Veria and of DBpedia.
Finally, this thesis can be a recommended practice for librarians who are interested in
opening and linking the bibliographic data of the libraries they work in.
