The main purpose of this thesis is to provide an insightful analysis of the definition of
Human Resources Management from an educational point of view. Each and every
corporation has its personnel trained in order to boost its competitiveness as well as its
market shares. The same rule applies to the Greek banks which came to the realization
that should they want to continue being competitive and viable in the era of global
economic recession which has already afflicted the Greek economy, they would have
to resort to intensifying their personnel’s training, thus forming a common mentality,
common values and common ground. Training plays a very important role in realizing
the strategic goals of the banks, as well as fulfilling the personal ambitions of the
executive members of a corporation.
Therefore, what is to be examined thoroughly is the case of two major Greek
banks, one being the National Bank of Greece and the other the Bank of Piraeus. Both
banks make use of certain training programs so that their competitiveness is increased
through their personnel’s education training programs. Throughout the last few years
and taking into consideration the fact that economic crisis is on its pinnacle, educating
and training one’ s personnel is the key solution to a corporation’s goal fulfillment.
