Abstract

This post-graduate dissertation deals with the construction of an on-line travel agency. The outstanding element of this program is the adaptivity, according to the preferences of each user, as well as the previous destinations that s/he has already visited. Through this program, there is the possibility to select which one from the available destinations and dates and his/her preferences are stored in the database of the system. The system provides dynamically destinations to the user based on the destinations s/he has already visited. Moreover, the user can choose a hotel and rent a car according to the chosen dates. Also, the user can be informed for the destinations of the system, based on their geography, history and culture. Furthermore, an important element which is offered by the system is the on-line help in a form that can support the user modeling and adaptivity. Concerning the database, there is the possibility of storage of records and elements of each user. Finally, the system provides several travel tools to the users, such as weather forecast and currency converter.
