This thesis entitled "Implementation of Electronic Medical Secretariat" is consisted of two parts, its application (practical part), and its theory (theoretical part).
In the part concerning the theory of the application, the first chapter defines the medical informatics and the information systems. In the first chapter, also, essential details like the structure, criteria, advantages and disadvantages of the above are analyzed, including the information systems of the hospitals and the electronic information management in the branch of health as a tool of assurance for total quality. The next chapter presents the hospital place, various ways that Greek hospitals use for scheduling appointments and a general introduction to their secretarial support. Moreover, in the same chapter other applications similar to the "Implementation of Electronic Medical Secretariat" are examined and eventually the chapter concludes with the presentation of the purpose and the services the Electronic Medical Secretariat provides. In the third chapter, the application architecture is analyzed; the technologies used are described; the ways those technologies interact are discussed; and the QR Code system which is embedded in the Secretariat is presented. The user guide constitutes the fourth chapter of the theoretical part of the described application. In this chapter the steps for proper use of the application are explained in detail, via specific images and texts. The last chapter of the theory enumerates conclusions and possible extensions of the application.
In the second part (the practical one) the "Implementation of Electronic Medical Secretariat" is applied, the aim of which is to provide secretarial services to clinics and dispensaries through Internet usage. The implementation is divided into the environment of the single user (patient’s environment) and the admin interface (clinic secretariat’s environment).
