The Maritime Labour Convention was adopted during 2006 in Geneva by the International Labour Organisation (ILO). It states the rights of seamen, defines the terms and conditions of work and helps in growing fair competition between naval corporations. It is designed in such way that it can be "strict in the rights and flexible in implementation", understandable and can be evenly inflicted. The goal of the Convention is the global protection of people working in any position on a ship. It also sets less significant specifications of naval employment and indicates the facilities of entertainment on a ship, of accommodation, medical care, insurance, etc.
