Abstract

The present master thesis aims at investigating and evaluating the adequacy of existing pricing models and charging policies used by telecommunication service providers with multiple access networks, based on different technologies. While telecom services target increasing population groups, the main focus has been the fixing of appropriate charging schemes and pricing policies. Market trends will determine the way various current and future telecommunication services will become affordable to a wider range of population, in order to reap technological benefits in terms of consumer behavior. Fixed mobile convergence combined with broadband access (double, triple play) and innovative service offer (Video on Demand, IPTV, VoIP) will continue at all levels (not only in terms of services, but also in networks and devices). This will be possible through alliances, acquisitions and merge. IMS is a standardized platform, based on IP architecture that allows the fixed mobile convergence of communication devices, through multiple network types and multimedia applications. The network requires appropriate pricing policies in order to recover its operational cost with a competitive and unbiased manner by the end users in order to allocate its resources efficiently.
