Abstract

The subject of this thesis is the research of Fuzzy Cognitive Maps as a tool for Decision Making and how this can be used in Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS). More specifically, in the first part of this work it is examined the way FCMs are constructed and how they are developed. Moreover it is examined the methods and the difficulties which resulting during the process of merging many FCMs in order to make possible their use in a group environment which have as a goal the Decision Making for a problem. The second and most important part of this work is the implementation of an application which was developed upon web technologies and has the potential to offer to its users the creation of user accounts, after that a user is able to add a subject which needs analysis through Fuzzy Cognitive Maps. The user of this application can create new FCMs either for his or her Subject or for a subject which has been created from another user, this way when a subject has a proper amount of FCMs the process of merging can take place in order to produce a unique and merged FCM upon which the algorithms of extracting conclusions can be implemented, those results can be saved separately for every user and anyone is able to see them in order users can examine and compare the produced results
