The purpose of this thesis is to study various methods of modeling user preferences and how this affects information filtering as well (Recommendation Systems). In recent years, the amount of information is enormous and easily accessible, but the problem starts when it is needed to give individualized recommendations. In order to achieve this, human-computer interaction, maintenance and exploitation of single user profile and metric distances between similar users are proved particularly critical dimensions. That is why the presentation of a classification and short analysis of these dimensions is considered to be useful. A very important part of the thesis is to present methods of filtering the necessary information. The methods of demographic filtering, content filtering, the collaborative filtering and hybrid methods are some of the data mining methods that analyzed and implemented in the application.
