This dissertation aims to analyze processes, tools and techniques used within the life cycle of IT project management, as well as the methodologies of development of IT systems. In addition it presents a study case of the project management of developing and implementing an IT system at “KTIMATOLOGIO S.A.”. Specifically, this dissertation consists of four chapters. Chapter 1 describes the project life cycles and development of IT systems. Chapter 2 analyses two broadly accepted methodologies of project management: PMI and PRINCE2. Chapter 3 refers to tools and techniques used in the time programming phase of the project (WBS, methods CPM/PERT, charts GANTT, responsibility Matrix), while finally Chapter 4 deals with the case study of the development and implementation of an IT system in the HR dept. of “KTIMATOLOGIO S.A.”. In deeper detail, it records the needs covered by the specific IT system and analyses the way to manage this, based on PRINCE2 methodology. It creates the time programming of the project and the work packages, it analyses the phases and the deliverables of the project, whereas it still presents the contingency plan and the issues risen throughout the whole project.
