Abstract

In the scope of the present thesis has been studied the health industry (or sector) in stock exchanges of European Union 15 (EU - 15). The research aimed to present the listed health service companies and to enrich or expand the knowledge of this scientific field. The study has focused only on the health service listed companies. Following the presentation of the European health listed companies, the study includes a financial analysis aimimg to classify them on the financial performance and operation. According to the results, UK's listed health companies seem to set the top levels of financial performance, while others (from other countries) classify around the average. The finacial analysis has been executed with the usage of financial ratios from balance sheets and income statements, and especially gross margin ratio, debt - equity ratio, current ratio, quick ratio, cash ratio and others. Further result is the reseach for a benchmarking index, depending on the European's average ratios, in order to create a business tool for compare health companies in the European health industry.
