The present dissertation has the intention to examine, analyze and demonstrate in all the perspectives the Coastal Shipping of the Ionian Sea, throughout the years. More specifically, its objective is the coastal connections of the Ionian Islands with the rest ports of continental Greece, such as Port of Patras and Port of Igoumenitsa. Another, extremely important aspect is that of Coastal within Adriatic Sea, connecting Greek and Italian Ports. Throughout the history of Ionian Shipping and coastal shipping during the last two centuries and the statistical analysis of coastal volume during the last 10 years of the 20th century and the first of 21th century, we can reach in exceptionally useful conclusions, regarding the present of that specific market and the future as well.
