A decision support system for multi objective linear programming

View/ Open
Abstract
MULTIOBJECTIVE MATHEMATICAL PROGRAMMING PROVIDES AN OPERATIONAL METHODOLOGY TO DEAL WITH MULTIPLE OBJECTIVES WITHIN THE FRAME OF MATHEMATICAL PROGRAMMING. THEDISSERTATION PRESENTS A NEW MULTIOBJECTIVE LINEAR PROGRAMMING METHOD AND A DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM (THE SYSTEM ADELAIS) WHICH MAKES THE METHOD OPERATIONAL. THE METHOD HELPS THE DECISION MAKER TO REACH EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS OF MAXIMAL UTILITY WITHIN SATISFACTORY LEVELS FOR THE OBJECTIVE VALUES. THE UTILITY MODEL OF THE DECISION MAKER IS ASSESSED BY MEANS OF ORDINAL REGRESSION AS AN ADDITIVE, PIECEWISE-LINEAR AND CONCAVE UTILITY FUNCTION. THE DETERMINATION OF SOLUTIONS OF MAXIMAL UTILITY IS REALIZED BY MEANS OF PIECEWISE-LINEAR PROGRAMMING. THE ADELAIS SYSTEM CONSTITUTES AN INTEGRATED VERSION OF THE METHOD ACCORDING TO THE PRINCIPLES OF DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS. ADELAIS SUPPORTS ALL STAGES OF THE DECISIONMAKING PROCESS IN LINEAR SYSTEMS WITH MULTIPLE OBJECTIVES UNDER CERTAINTY. ITSPRINCIPLES ARE BASED ON THE PROGRESSIVE ARTICULATION OF THE DECISION MAKER'S PREFERENCES BY MEANS OF A TRIAL-AND-ERROR PROCESS.
