Abstract

This dissertation targets to investigate the recent economic crisis and the consequences of this in the shipping industry. In the beginning is attempted to investigate whether this crisis is associated with other prior equally important and strong crises. The characteristics and its structure are analyzed to identify the causes of the breaches. Then examined from the standpoint of shipping in order to identify the causes of it passed in the industry and the impact of the economic crisis that the whole industry, but in each market separately. Through analyzing the financial statements of some companies attempted an empirical approach to the treatment and responses to questionnaires were distributed to executives of industry ,leading research to important conclusions. Finally, attempts to approximate future conditions, potential opportunities and threats in the industry on the upcoming years.
