Transplantation is one of the greatest medical advances and is considered as a therapeutic method. Transplants of kidney, liver, heart, lungs are currently the most prevalent application of this treatment. However, improving technically transplant due to advances in medical science unfortunately does not affect people's perception of their potential involvement in transplantation procedures. This paper addresses the issue of transplantation giving conceptual approaches for brain death and for organ donation from deceased and alive donor. There are also presented various different views on the issue of transplantation and the opinion of various religions. The articulation of this paper is done in 2 parts and in a total of seven chapters. Moreover, a research took place so as not only to enhance the existing literature on the subject of transplantation, but also to investigate the attitudes and opinions of workers in health units across the process of transplantation and organ donation in Greece. Also, with the support of the specific research, the factors that influence these attitudes are being explored. The survey was conducted with the help of a structured questionnaire and the sample consisted of the non-nursing personnel of the Hospital K.A.T. Some of the most important findings of the research is that the level of education affects the knowledge of people about transplantation issues. Furthermore, people who nourish confidence in the transplant system, they exhibit a positive attitude towards the potential to become organ donors. Future research is proposed to be directed towards investigating the attitudes and the perceptions of those persons who have had a direct experience with transplantation process, either as a relative of a brain dead person, or as a potential transplant recipient.
