The purpose of this thesis is to show the importance of the use of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) in enterprises both theoretical and practical level. The theme was chosen as the use of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) is increasing worldwide and today has become an indispensable tool for any business operation. Starting with a historical overview and analysis of the characteristics of Information Systems, which is the basis of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, we arrive at the current trends and how they have greatly improved the ability to respond to customers, have reduced the number of errors, running costs and have a great impact on the organization and increase sales to businesses that have been used. Then is presented the progressive change of information systems to a specific resource management system through the necessity of the modern competitive business environment as an important issue is to be governed by the companies’ quick and complete access to management information on both managers, as well as information relating to the overall strategic planning. Modern operating models and management require different business processes to be completed in more than one part of the business which we now have to work with direct, continuous and harmonious cooperation. Through this thesis resulting inferences about what application packages essentially comprises an ERP system, and how such a system of a new generation has the ability to adapt quickly to changes occurring in the structure or function of the business.
