One of the most important areas of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is Project Management of Information Systems (IS) Development. Both project management and IS Development have plenty of methods, prototypes, and tools to support the corresponding activities accordingly. This thesis contains an analysis of major methodologies of Information Systems Project management, a presentation of their major characteristics and a clarification of their differences. Having define all necessary information, this thesis closes with a case study from banking sector. The selected case study concerns the development and installation of a Core Banking System where the Structured System Analysis and Design Method in combination with PRINCE2, have been used during its development process.
